Girls' Adam Driver Reportedly Close to Joining Star War Cast

Adam Driver of Girls fame has been reported as the new villain for Star Wars: Episode VII—a character who will apparently send any hero back to their parents covered in trash compactor goo.
Variety’s got the scoop, and while writer Justin Kroll says no deal is finished, he states Driver’s close to signing for a part that’s “in the vein of iconic Star Wars villain Darth Vader.” As Variety points out, he’s the first cast member to be near-official for the next Star Wars film, which takes place after Return of the Jedi.
True Driver fans, though, will appreciate that he teased the role last year in Inside Llewyn Davis—some of his only lines included the words “outer space.”
