Seth Grahame - Smith Hired to Polish Fantastic Four Reboot

Having turned Abraham Lincoln into a vampire-slaying badass and inserted zombies into the oppressive world of Jane Austen’s Pride and Prejudice, it was only a matter of time before Seth Grahame-Smith got his hands on a superhero property.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, the Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter author and Dark Shadows screenwriter was commissioned by Fox to do a screenwriting polish on their upcoming Fantastic Four reboot. The initial script came courtesy of up and coming screenwriter Jeremy Slater.
This marks Fox’s second attempt at launching at Fantastic Four franchise. While the first 2005 movie and its 2007 sequel performed well at the box office, they were uniformly rejected by fans of the comic book series.
No doubt seeking to gain some newfound credibility in the wake of Nolan’s Dark Knight trilogy and The Avengers, Fox has now hired Matthew Vaughn—whose previous comic book-based credits include Kick-Ass and X-Men: First Class— to produce the retooling.
Also, Josh Trank—who made a splash early last year with the well-received, quasi-superhero film Chronicle—will be directing.
Sources say that the new film will take a more “grounded and sci-fi approach to the heroes and will tap deep into the comics mythology.”
