Lena Dunham Causes Twitter Storm

Lena-Dunham-causes-Twitter-stormLena Dunham has apologised for making a joke about molestation.

The outspoken Girls actress appeared on Saturday Night Live over the weekend and shocked some viewers when she stripped off on screen.

She's come under fire for the nudity in her HBO show before and was again targeted on Twitter by people who thought the flesh-baring was too much.

When one Twitter user advised her she "doesn't always have to get naked", the star responded with: "Please tell that to my uncle, mister. He's been making me! (sic)"

Realising she may have gone too far, the 27-year-old deleted the post and apologised to her followers.

"I just made and deleted a not so great molestation joke. Sorry guys. I am really sleepy," she confessed.

"SNL has a way bigger audience than our usual cozy girls audience, so I was seeing a rash of very different kinds of twitter rage.

"But I should know better, and do. Even naked girls get embarrassed. Sleep well and thanks for an amazing weekend. (sic)"

Despite Lena's apology, some fans still felt shocked by her comment.

One suggested she wouldn't cut anyone else any "slack" if they posted a similar message and then blamed it on being tired.

"Not if they were a fifty year old man. But by my lights women can have a lot of joke flexibility. Ya gotta get by in this world (sic)," she replied.

Girls is currently in its third season and has a new face in the form of British actress Felicity Jones on board.

Lena was pleased to have the chance to welcome the 30-year-old into the cast.

"We were incredibly honored that Felicity Jones came to play on Girls. She is one of the best actors working today, and what a face! (sic)" Lena gushed.
