Elisabeth Moss: Marriage was traumatic

Elisabeth-Moss:-Marriage-was-traumatic
Elisabeth Moss describes her marriage as "extremely traumatic and awful".
The 31-year-old actress wed Saturday Night Live star Fred Armisen in 2009 but they split eight months later. It was an acrimonious break-up, with Elisabeth concurring with Fred's previously admission that he was a "terrible husband".
"Looking back, I feel like I was a really young, and at the time I didn't think that I was that young. It was extremely traumatic and awful and horrible," she told New York Magazine.
"At the same time, it turned out for the best. I'm glad that I'm not there. I'm glad that it didn't happen when I was 50. I'm glad I didn't have kids. And I got that out of the way. Hopefully. Like, that's probably not going to happen again."
During an interview with Howard Stern last year, Fred admitted he tends to fall for women quickly, before getting bored of them. He then "freaks out" about being tied down and withdraws from the relationship until his partner ends it.
"One of the greatest things I heard someone say about him is, ‘He’s so great at doing impersonations. But the greatest impersonation he does is that of a normal person.' To me, that sums it up," Elisabeth has said.
Aside from the emotional pain she went through at the time, the Mad Men actress also had to deal with being in the spotlight. She found that impossibly hard, not least because of the insight it offered her.
"I always knew that the stuff that you read is not true, but when I was in the situation and you really, actually read things that you apparently said or did that are 100 per cent made up… It’s just the strange, simple thing of, that's your heart they're talking about, and it just… it sucks," she explained.
That said, Elisabeth understands why her break-up garnered headlines, admitting she isn't above skimming over celebrity gossip herself.
Although she was open about her divorce, the star was less keen to discuss religion. She is a Scientologist and has spoken about how much that means to her in the past, claiming it has helped her be the best version of herself. Nowadays, she is less outspoken.
"I’m not going to talk about it anymore,” she insisted. “I said what it meant to me, and anyone can go and look at that if they want to know what I feel. But now it’s private, off limits.
"I would feel the same way [as others if I wasn't involved with it], honestly. I think if there was something that I didn’t know and didn’t understand, I would probably feel as opinionated. You know how you’re opinionated about when someone breaks up? Celebrities break up and you just feel like you know what happened?”
